5 Steps to get Recharged for Ownership (of your body, mind & business) October

Autumn Leaves

As we wrap up Self-Care September, I’m kicking off Ownership October: Nurture Your Body, Extend Your Career.

I'll be sharing how I dodged a sore throat, recharged at a friend’s Northern Michigan cottage, and found clarity for my career.

Waking up with a pesky sore throat (no time for that!), I tried my forgiveness ritual (see my video here) and a few drops of high-quality organic oregano oil—bam, gone in an hour!

Then, at the cottage, I listened to my tired body, napped several times, and soaked in an autumn color tour on a golf cart, watching leaves turn vibrant yellow, orange, and red.

A tarot reading pointed me to grow my continuing education business while keeping my Goddess Healing Room practice.

Brainstorming with Tony for the Mind Capture Bootcamp fueled my fire, too.

Inspired by Kandas’ Self Care for the Solopreneur podcast, here are five goddess-inspired tips to soothe your aching hands, ease body tension, and extend your career.

1. Mindset Tip: Reframe Setbacks as Signals

That sore throat had me wondering if I’d said too much or too little, but reflecting on my weekend, nothing specific stood out.

Instead of spiraling, I saw it as a signal to pause and reset, much like Kandas’ advice to stop chasing every shiny object.

As massage therapists, a twinge in your hands or body can feel like a career threat—reframe it as a nudge to care for yourself first.

Actionable Tip: When you feel a physical or mental snag today, pause and ask, “What’s this teaching me?” Journal one insight to shift your mindset from stress to growth.

2. Body Tip: Treat Rest as Mandatory Survival

At the cottage, perfect fall weather begged for activity, but my friend and I were wiped out, so we slept a lot.

Kandas’ podcast nails it: rest isn’t a luxury, it’s survival for solopreneurs like us therapists.

Actionable Tip: Check your energy gauge (full, empty, or in between) today. Try a 2-minute hand stretch or a quick nap to recharge before your next session.

3. Spirituality Tip: Anchor Yourself with a Grounding Practice

The cottage’s quiet, my forgiveness ritual, and a tarot reading grounded me deeply, echoing Kandas’ call for spiritual renewal.

That sacred pause let me sink into calm, prepping my spirit for a busy week.

For therapists, grounding keeps you steady when hands ache, your mind is racing or clients drain you.

Actionable Tip: Take 5 minutes today for a grounding ritual—meditate, journal, or gaze at fall leaves to reconnect with your inner calm.

4. Wealth Tip: Invest in Joy to Fuel Your Work

Saying yes to my friend’s dinner treat at the cottage (she insisted!) reminded me that small joys recharge my energy to serve clients and plan events like Continuing Education classes the Bootcamp and Retreats with Tony.

Kandas’ podcast emphasizes investing in yourself to sustain your business.

For therapists, skipping self-care can lead to burnout, hurting your income.

Actionable Tip: Spend on one small joy today—tea, a class, or a new essential oil (safe for internal use!)—to boost your energy and keep your career thriving.

5. Community Tip: Ask for Specific Help to Empower Givers

Cruising the cottage’s autumn color tour on a golf cart with my friend strengthened our bond, just like Kandas says in her Self Care for the Solopreneur podcast .

Asking for specific help empowers others.

Accepting her dinner invite felt like a gift to us both.

For therapists, leaning on others prevents overworking your hands and body.

Actionable Tip: Connect with a therapist peer or a friend today, asking, “What’s a small ritual you do to recharge after a busy day?” This builds a bridge of support, protects your body from overuse, and deepens connections for everyone.
